Getting to Carlisle Park

 

Carlisle Park is in the centre of Morpeth, Northumberland. It is easy to get to from the town's car parks, bus station and train station, although there is no parking in the park itself.

Opening times

Carlisle Park is open all day, every day so it's always a great time to visit.

The William Turner Garden is open from 8am till 6pm in the summer and from 8am till 3.30pm in the winter, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day when it is closed.

The public toilets in the park are open from 10am till 6pm every day from 1st April till 31st October. They are closed in the winter.

 

Accessibility

The main park entrances at the Formal Gardens, Elliott Bridge and Oldgate Bridge, and The William Turner Garden are wheelchair accessible. There are some steep hills and steps in the park too.

Assistance dogs are welcome in the park.

 

Getting here by public transport

Many buses stop right outside the Formal Gardens and Morpeth train station is just a 15 minute walk to the south of the park. Click here to link to Traveline for the latest public transport information.

 

Coaches

The best place for coach drop offs for Carlisle Park is near Morpeth Riverside Leisure Centre, New Market, Morpeth, NE61 1PR, which brings you to the Elliott Bridge entrance of the Park.

Car parks in Morpeth are metered, please check the notices at each location for exact prices and maximum stay, but it should cost you less than £3.00 to stay all day.

The car parks at Castle Square and The Terrace are closest to the Formal Gardens entrance and the William Turner Garden.

The car parks at Newmarket and Mathieson's Gardens, near the Leisure Centre, are closest to the Elliott Bridge entrance and the sports facilities, play areas and paddling pool.

 

Dogs

Dogs are welcome in the park, and can be off lead, but they must be under control and you must clear up after them.
