Events in Carlisle Park
Carlisle Park hosts events throughout the year, which are organisied by different organisations. The Friends of Carlisle Park organise walks, talks and events around the park's natural history and heritage. Dates for these vary and are published annually. The following events take place each year...
Easter Oranges are given out every Easter Monday by Morpeth Town Council at the sails sculpture near the play areas.
Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering takes place every year on the weekend after Easter. Carlisle Park hosts a variety of activities including traditional music and performances, battle re-enactments and orienteering competitions.
Morpeth Fair is a day dedicated to family fun with a parade, fairground rides, all sorts of stalls and activites throughout the town while Carlisle Park provides a place to relax and entertain the kids. Always on the second Sunday in June.
Picnic in the Park, on the last Sunday in July each year, has evolved from the Miners' Picnics which first took place in Carlisle Park in 1875. Times have changed and the march and speakers have been replaced by magicians and pony rides, but the brass band still plays and it proves to be a great day out for young and old.
